ASSAM MEGHALAYA TOUR

4 Night/5 Day

Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati – Kamakhya Temple, River Island & Sunset Cruise

  • Arrive in Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Meet our representative and transfer to your hotel for check-in.

  • Begin your journey with a visit to the Kamakhya Temple, one of India’s most powerful Shaktipeeths. Located atop Nilachal Hill, the temple offers stunning panoramic views of the city and the Brahmaputra River. Experience its divine atmosphere, ancient rituals, and vibrant cultural significance.

​

  • Next, enjoy a ferry ride to Umananda Temple, located on the tranquil Peacock Island—believed to be the smallest inhabited river island.

​

  • The short boat ride offers refreshing views of the mighty Brahmaputra River.

​

  • In the evening, enjoy a Brahmaputra River Sunset Cruise. The glowing hues of the sunset, combined with music and cool winds, create a perfect end to your first day.

​

  • Return to hotel and relax.

       Overnight stay in Guwahati.

Day 2: Guwahati → Shillong – Umiam Lake & Local Shillong Experience

  • After breakfast, begin a scenic drive to Shillong, known as the “Scotland of the East.” En route, stop at the breathtaking Umiam Lake (Barapani)—a vast water reservoir surrounded by pine-covered hills. Enjoy photography or optional adventure activities like boating, kayaking, or ziplining.

  • Upon reaching Shillong, check in at the hotel. Later explore:

  1. Ward’s Lake – scenic lake with gardens and a walking path

  2. Cathedral Church – one of the most beautiful churches in the Northeast

  3. Police Bazar – shopping, street food, and local market experience​

​

  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 3: Full-Day Cherrapunji Trip – Waterfalls, Valleys & Caves

  • After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunji (Sohra), known for its lush valleys, waterfalls, and caves.

​

       Visit top attractions including:

  1. Nohkalikai Falls – the tallest plunge waterfall in India

  2. Seven Sisters Falls – a stunning seven-stream waterfall

  3. Mawsmai Cave – illuminated cave with adventurous pathways

  4. Arwah Cave – fossil formations and wide chambers

  5. Eco Park – large viewpoints overlooking the Bangladesh plains

  • Return to Shillong.

      Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 4: Mawlynnong & Dawki – Cleanest Village & Crystal Clear River

  • After breakfast, travel to Mawlynnong, awarded as Asia’s Cleanest Village. Explore well-maintained bamboo paths, gardens, and traditional Khasi houses. Visit the iconic Living Root Bridge, a naturally formed marvel made from living tree roots.

  • Then continue to Dawki, famous for the crystal-clear Umngot River. Experience a magical transparent boat ride where the water is so clear that the boat appears to float in mid-air. Enjoy riverside exploration and visit the India–Bangladesh border viewpoint.

  • Return to Shillong.

  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 5: Shillong → Guwahati – Departure

  • After breakfast, check out and drive back to Guwahati. Depending on flight/train timing, you may stop at viewpoints or local shops.

  • Arrive in Guwahati and transfer to Airport/Railway Station.

​

  • Your Assam–Meghalaya tour ends with beautiful memories of temples, caves, waterfalls, rivers, and scenic mountain landscapes.
