ASSAM, MEGHALAYA, ARUNACHAL PRADESH TOUR

Day 1: Arrival at Guwahati – Gateway to Northeast India

  • Arrive in Guwahati, the lively and culturally rich gateway to Northeast India. After a warm welcome, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.

​

  • Spend the afternoon visiting the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, a cultural landmark that preserves Assam’s art, heritage, and traditional performing arts.

​

  • Enjoy a peaceful walk along the Brahmaputra riverfront, where the cool breeze and evening lights create a charming atmosphere. Optionally, you may enjoy a sunset cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra River.

​

  • Overnight stay in Guwahati.

Day 2: Spiritual Bliss & City Exploration

  • Begin your morning with a sacred visit to Kamakhya Temple, one of India’s most revered Shakti Peethas. Located atop Nilachal Hill, the temple offers spiritual peace and a panoramic view of the city below.

​

  • Continue sightseeing with a ferry ride to Umananda Temple, situated on the smallest inhabited river island in the world.

​

  • Explore Assam State Zoo and Basistha Ashram, surrounded by serene forests and natural streams.

​

  • In the evening, visit Fancy Bazaar, where you can shop for traditional Assamese clothing, handicrafts, and souvenirs.

​

  • Overnight stay in Guwahati.

Day 3: Guwahati → Kaziranga – Into the Wild

  • After breakfast, drive toward Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its population of One-Horned Rhinoceros. Enjoy beautiful scenery, lush fields, and charming village views on the way.

  • Check into your jungle resort, surrounded by nature.

  • Later visit the Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park, featuring thousands of orchids, cultural displays, and folk dance performances.

​

  • Witness the colourful local dances in the evening before returning to your resort. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 4: Kaziranga – Wildlife Safaris & Nature Trails

  • Wake up early for an exciting elephant safari, offering a close encounter with wildlife such as rhinos, wild buffaloes, deer, and numerous bird species. After breakfast, enjoy leisure time at the resort.

  • Later, embark on a jeep safari into a different range of the forest, exploring deep jungles and grasslands for the best wildlife sightings.

​

  • End your day with a relaxing visit to a nearby tea garden to see how Assam tea is grown.

  • Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 5: Kaziranga → Shillong – The Scotland of the East

  • Depart for Shillong, the charming and picturesque hill station of Meghalaya. En route, stop at the mesmerizing Umiam Lake, surrounded by rolling green hills. Enjoy boating or simply take in the breathtaking views.

  • After reaching Shillong, check in at your hotel and enjoy an evening walk around Police Bazar, the city's popular market area known for cafés, street food, and local crafts.

  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 6: Cherrapunjee (Sohra) – Land of Clouds & Waterfalls

  • Take a scenic drive to Cherrapunjee, famous for being one of the wettest places on Earth. Visit the spectacular Nohkalikai Falls, plunging from a great height into a turquoise pool below.

  • Explore the Eco Park, Seven Sisters Falls, and the naturally formed limestone Mawsmai and Arwah Caves. These caves feature remarkable rock formations and narrow passages carved by nature over thousands of years.

​

  • Return to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Mawlynnong & Dawki – Cleanest Village & Crystal Waters

  • Travel to Mawlynnong, awarded as Asia’s Cleanest Village, known for its well-maintained surroundings, flower lanes, bamboo dustbins, and eco-conscious lifestyle.

  • Visit the iconic Living Root Bridge, crafted naturally by the Khasi tribes.

​

  • Continue towards Dawki, located near the India-Bangladesh border, where the crystal-clear Umngot River reveals the riverbed even at great depths.

​

  • Enjoy boating on this emerald-green river before returning to Shillong.

​

  • Overnight stay.

Day 8: Shillong → Bhalukpong / Dirang – Entering the Arunachal Himalayas

  • After breakfast, start your journey toward Arunachal Pradesh. As you ascend the Himalayan foothills, the scenery transforms dramatically from pine forests to high mountain valleys.

​

  • Complete ILP permit formalities at the border.

​

  • Visit Tipi Orchid Centre, home to thousands of rare orchids.

​

  • Reach Dirang or Bhalukpong and spend the evening at leisure, enjoying the mountain weather.

​

  • Overnight stay in Dirang/Bhalukpong.

Day 9: Dirang → Tawang – A Journey Through Majestic Mountain Passes

  • Drive to Tawang, passing through dramatic landscapes. The highlight is Sela Pass at 13,700 feet, often covered in snow, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. Beside it lies the serene Sela Lake, known for its crystal-clear waters.

​

  • Visit Jaswant Garh War Memorial, built in honour of Rifleman Jaswant Singh, who fought bravely during the 1962 Indo-China War.

​

  • Continue to the magnificent Nuranang Waterfall before reaching Tawang.

​

  • Overnight stay in Tawang.

Day 10: Tawang – Monasteries, Culture & Mountain Views

  • Explore Tawang Monastery, the largest in India and an architectural masterpiece. Surrounded by stunning mountain ranges, the monastery houses ancient scriptures, murals, and statues of Lord Buddha.

​

  • Visit Urgelling Monastery, birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, followed by Tawang War Memorial, a beautifully constructed structure honouring the bravery of Indian soldiers. Spend the evening exploring local markets and trying Tibetan cuisine.

​

  • Overnight stay in Tawang.

Day 11: Tawang – Bum La Pass & High Altitude Lakes

  • Embark on a high-altitude excursion to Bum La Pass, located on the Indo-China border, subject to army permission. The pass is of great historical importance and offers dramatic Himalayan views.

​

  • Continue to Madhuri Lake (Shungatser Lake), surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped mountains.

​

  • Visit the serene PTSO Lake before returning to Tawang.

​

  • Overnight stay.

Day 12: Tawang → Dirang → Guwahati

  • Begin your return journey, enjoying scenic views as you descend from high-altitude mountains into the foothills.

​

  • Arrive in Guwahati by evening.

​

  • Overnight stay.

Day 13: Departure

  • After breakfast, transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey.

​
